One of the largest technology corporations in the United States began to accept bitcoins

Avnet, a Fortune 500 technology solution provider, has announced support for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment options. The company from Phoenix, Arizona, implemented this opportunity with the support of BitPay processing service.

"We are working with BitPay to make secure payments through the blockchain for all customers, allowing them to focus their efforts on developing their own products, not on payment issues," said Avnet Vice President of demand creation Sunny Trin.

The company also said in a statement that it cooperates with the portal Bitcoin.com regarding " creating a new hardware wallet suitable for storing cryptocurrencies and providing the highest level of transaction security."

Recall that a number of representatives of the bitcoin community encourages companies and users to boycott BitPay services. The problem is that BitPay, without any warning and discussions with the developers of the bitcoin Protocol, refused to support the standard scheme of showing payment requests to end users, described in BIP21.

Instead, the company adopted a non-widely supported BIP70 scheme. It was originally proposed in 2013 by Gavin Addressen and Mike Hern, developers who received sad fame after the creation of the so-called "black lists" of bitcoins.

At the same time, in January of this year, the Manager of the free encyclopedia Wikipedia, the non-profit organization Wikimedia Foundation entered into a partnership with BitPay to receive donations in bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
